The Harpist & the Studio

The Harpist

Having studied music since age six, Bethany Lancaster is passionate about creating beautiful music. She studied piano for the first seven years of her music education and then switched to harp at age thirteen. Since then, Bethany has pursued harp whole-heartedly, earning her Licentiate in Performance through the United Kingdom’s Royal School of Music, her Bachelor of Arts in Music and English with highest honors from Union University in 2017, and her Master of Music in Harp Performance with highest honors from the University of Michigan in 2019.

During her career, Bethany has studied with Helen Rifas, Sally Duran, Carol McClure, and Joan Holland. She has also participated in master classes with Jana Bouskova, Phyllis Adams, Alexandra Katelyn Mullins, and Sivan Magen. In 2015, 2017, and 2019, Bethany competed in the American Harp Society Competition. She was also the harpist in residence at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in the fall of 2019.

Bethany has played a wide range of events during her career as a harpist, from private dinner parties to church events, and multiple weddings, funerals, fundraisers, and concerts in between. Her passion for the harp pushes her to draw her audience in so that they can share her experience with the music. Because performances are tailored to the audience, Bethany has a wide ranging repertoire to fit every need. She’s always seeking new pieces to add to her repertoire as well.

Currently, Bethany lives in Walkertown with her husband Zach.

The Studio

After years of performing and teaching, Bethany Lancaster rebranded as Lune River Harp Studio in 2022. The name comes from her last name, which means “Roman fort on the River Lune.”

Lune River Harp Studio seeks to instill an admiration for the musical arts, inspire students to reach their full potential, and create lasting memories with each performance. Art is transformative, and so each time the harp is presented - whether in a lesson, wedding, or concert - that power informs the presentation. Beautiful music is meant for everyone, regardless of genre or setting.
